The MSK ultrasound can be used for diagnostic purposes as well as for image guidance in therapeutic injection procedures. This technology is at the cutting edge for musculoskeletal issues and is used to visualize bone, muscle, tendon and ligament anatomy.
At BayCare Clinic, our doctors strive to provide exceptional care to Northeast Wisconsin. Our physicians are committed to furthering their education on the latest procedures or innovations to benefit patient care.
Using the MSK ultrasound, our doctors are able to gain a much better view of a patient's anatomy and pathology in real time. They can see anatomy in motion, and this often allows the ability to find hidden pathology that has not been able to be seen with other diagnostic testing, such as MRI or CAT scans.
Our pain and rehab doctors can perform injection procedures under direct visualization of the MSK ultrasound. The ultrasound is used to help guide injections into the precise area of injury. This not only increases the effectiveness of the injection, but it also makes it safer by helping to avoid adjacent structures (i.e., nerve or blood vessels) from inadvertent damage. The end result is less pain and improved function.
If you have a musculoskeletal injury or disorder, call 866-965-4380 for an evaluation to see if the use of the MSK ultrasound might be right for you. For your convenience, you may also request an appointment online.
