Dr. Jon Henry is board certified in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. He has been practicing since 2001, following completion of his medical degree from University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison and completion of an orthopedic surgery residency in Syracuse, N.Y., and a sports medicine fellowship at The Ohio State University in Columbus.
Dr. Henry is past president of the Wisconsin Orthopaedic Society and an active member of various orthopedic organizations including the American Association of Orthopedic Surgeons, the American Orthopedic Society of Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America. Dr. Henry has presented original research at various national meetings and has published articles on a variety of orthopedic surgery and sports medicine related topics. As an invited master instructor at the Orthopedic Learning Center in Rosemont, Ill., and at various symposiums throughout the Midwest, Dr. Henry has taught orthopedic surgeons from around the world techniques related to shoulder and hip arthroscopy, knee ligament reconstruction, and cartilage restoration.
From 1996 to 2008, Dr. Henry served in the U.S. Army Reserves Medical Corps, including three combat duty deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. Working from a combat support hospital, he treated U.S. and international soldiers as well as local civilians with war-related extremity injuries.
Dr. Henry has a passionate focus on sports medicine and is the acting medical director of the Aurora BayCare Sports Medicine program. His sports medicine practice includes joint preservation treatment for the knee, hip and shoulder. His practice philosophy and treatment goal is to help patients understand and overcome their orthopedic problems and ultimately restore their desired quality of life.
Throughout his career, Dr. Henry has provided medical care for athletes and sports teams at all levels of competition. His athletic background includes participation in varsity crew (rowing) at the University of Wisconsin from 1987 to 1991. He now enjoys running, cycling and cross-country skiing.
