Sports Medicine
The orthopedic surgeons and sports medicine providers at Orthopedics & Sports Medicine BayCare Clinic evaluate, treat and manage a wide array of injuries sustained by athletes, workers and active people.
Sports medicine treatment is tailored to each person’s sport- or activity-specific interests and functional goals. We recommend noninvasive, nonsurgical treatment options when possible. However, some injuries are best treated with surgery to ensure the best outcome.
What our sports medicine providers treat
Injuries treated by our sports medicine providers typically are:
- Acute injuries, which include but are not limited to sprains, strains and dislocations; fractures; and cartilage, tendon and ligament injuries.
- Chronic injuries, which include those from overuse because of repetitive activity, such as tendinitis. Overuse injuries include carpal tunnel syndrome, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, IT band friction syndrome and patellar tendinitis.
