In the summer of 2023, Daniel Feaker’s hand was going numb and it prevented him from doing the things he enjoyed. He was unable to do the simple things in life that he once took pleasure in, including fishing and chopping wood.

“I got an electric fillet knife, and it vibrates, and I couldn’t clean a batch of fish,” Daniel said. I had to set it down and shake my hand until I could feel it again. Even driving my car my hand would fall asleep.”

That’s when he found Dr. Danzhu Guo, MD, FAAPMR, a board-certified physiatrist with BayCare Clinic Pain & Rehab Medicine. He performed thread carpal tunnel release (TCTR), a minimally invasive procedure for carpal tunnel syndrome on Daniel’s right hand. This procedure was done in the office under local anesthetic.

“Only took like 10 or 15 minutes, and then I was driving myself home,” Daniel said.

“There is no comparison,” Daniel said as he recalled his recovery from traditional surgery he had on his left hand years ago. “Last time, I mean that really sucked. You can’t use your hand. I know it was at least three weeks.”

With TCTR, Daniel had no pain and experienced an easy recovery, getting him back to the things he loved sooner.

“The next day I could use my hand just fine,” Daniel said. “And the day after I was cutting wood, no problem. My hand’s not gone numb since.”
