Neurointervention

Neurointervention offers minimally invasive treatment for disorders of the blood vessels in the brain and the spine. It allows for the use of small incisions no larger than a dime, rather than more invasive procedures that involve opening the skull or exposing the spinal column. Through those tiny incisions, our specialists insert a catheter through blood vessels to problem areas in the brain or a cannula to the problem areas in the spine. Using imaging technology sent via catheter or cannula (a metal tube), our specialists can see and treat brain and spine issues, either with medical devices or medication.

Our Neurointervention team is comprised of specialists in interventional neurology, neurosurgery and neurointerventional radiology. We treat patients with:

  • Strokes
  • Transient ischemic attacks (TIA)
  • Brain aneurysms
  • Cerebral artery stenosis
  • Vascular malformations and fistulas of the brain and spine
  • Carotid artery diseases
  • Vertebral artery diseases
  • Venous diseases of the head and neck
  • Compression fractures

The benefits of neurointervention can include shorter recovery time, fewer complications and less pain after a procedure is done.

During your initial appointment, your medical history and risk factors will be evaluated. One of our specialists will work with you to create an individualized treatment plan to help ensure your success.

Neurointervention may not be suitable for every patient with these issues.
