Treatments for sprained ankles vary

Wed, Oct 11, 2017

Ankle sprains are injuries to the supporting parts of the ankle as it moves.

“Most often the treatment consists of icing, resting and supporting the ankle. Physical therapy and an ankle brace are also recommended to improve the supporting muscles and to give the ankle stability while the ankle is strengthened back into original condition,” says Dr. Jason George DeVries, a foot and ankle surgeon with Orthopedics & Sports Medicine BayCare Clinic in Manitowoc.

The good news is that after appropriate treatment, most people can get back into their sports and back into life, DeVries says.
