New Year’s Eve is an exciting time to celebrate. Just remember to keep safety in mind during the festivities.

“The excitement, availability of alcohol and all-night jubilation are just a few of the ingredients that, when combined, can lead young revelers to a trip to the emergency room, or worse,” says Dr. Ryan Murphy, an emergency medicine physician with BayCare Clinic.

Ask a Doctor: On New Year’s Eve, stay safe

Remember, if you’re going out, go out with a group of friends, stay aware of your surroundings, and don’t leave your drink unattended.

We’re here to assist if things go awry, but we’d much rather your young adults enjoy the evening without having to see us in the emergency room, says Murphy.
