Performers at the 2018 Doctors in Recital performance will feature at least one face familiar to many BayCare Clinic employees and physicians.
Dr. Gemma Bornick, an emergency medicine physician with BayCare Clinic, is among the two dozen local physicians scheduled to perform during the annual musical event.
Doctors in Recital will take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, at the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts in Green Bay. It offers an evening of musical performances by area physicians donating their time and talents to raise funds for a local cause.
“Each act is headlined by an area physician with a passion for music, as well as a commitment to patient care,” the Doctors in Recital website says. “Many other area healthcare professionals share the stage as back-up musicians or choir members.”
Bornick developed an interest in music at an early age. By age 6, she was learning piano. Later, she tried the violin and electric guitar, eventually focusing on vocal music performance.
“Doctors in Recital provides me an outlet for my love of choral music, while also giving me an opportunity to aid local charities in our community,” she says.
Proceeds from the annual winter event, led by the Brown County Medical Society, support area programs focused on improving health, wellness and quality of life.
This year, the event benefits the Positive Parenting Program offered by ASPIRO as the community partner, and the Creative Skills class at Washington Middle School in Green Bay and Music for the Sake of Music, a not-for-profit community music organization, as the music partners.
Since 2006, Doctors in Recital has raised more than $370,000 for local charities.
Doctors in Recital sponsors include BayCare Clinic and Aurora BayCare Medical Center, among many others.
