GREEN BAY – A new event promises to take cycling enthusiasts on a wonderful ride from Green Bay to Lake Michigan and back through Brown, Kewaunee and Door counties.
The BayCare Clinic Century Bayshore to Lakeshore, will take place on Saturday, June 3, 2017. It is sponsored by the BayCare Clinic Foundation. The ride offers cyclists a 20-, 60-, or 100-mile course.
Registration for the century ride is open at baycarecentury.com.
The ride will start and end at BayCare Clinic’s new corporate headquarters at 1035 Kepler Drive in the I-43 Business Park on Green Bay’s far east side. It’s part of the health organization’s BayCare Clinic Bikes community wellness initiative.
Participants will enjoy a ride through scenic farmscapes, gently rolling hills and shoreline vistas as they pedal through Brown, Kewaunee and Door counties.
“The century ride is part of our organization’s ongoing efforts to encourage bicycling as a healthy activity for the entire family,” said Ann Seidl, century ride director and director of marketing and public relations for BayCare Clinic.
“This event is for riders of all ability levels, from serious cyclists who enjoy high mileage routes to casual riders looking for a fun family event.”
A 2015 study commissioned by PeopleForBikes determined that an estimated 104 million Americans ride bikes. The study illustrated the continued growth of biking’s popularity nationwide. That growth, and its potential health benefits, helps reinforce the decision to create the BayCare Clinic Century Ride Bayshore to Lakeshore, event organizers say.
“It’s an opportunity to channel that growing enthusiasm and energy into an event that ultimately can help raise interest in cycling. We hope that will further encourage people to take up cycling to improve their fitness and health,” said Chris Augustian, chief executive officer of BayCare Clinic.
All proceeds from the ride will benefit the BayCare Clinic Foundation, which supports causes and organizations that promote improved health and wellness in northeastern Wisconsin.
