BayCare Clinic offers non-traditional healthcare option

GREEN BAY – A physician at BayCare Clinic is offering patients another approach to medicine – treating the body, mind and spirit, as well as the illness.
Headed by Dr. Lynn Wagner, BayCare Clinic’s integrative lifestyle medicine specialty offers patients healthcare options beyond conventional Western medicine. Her office is located at Aurora BayCare Health Center, 2253 W. Mason St., Green Bay.
“This form of medicine provides our patients with alternatives to the typical methods used to treat a number of health issues,” Wagner said. “We take into consideration all factors that influence health, wellness and disease including body, mind, spirit and community.”
Wagner, who is fellowship-trained in integrative medicine from the University of Arizona College of Medicine, said the integrative approach to medicine is useful for almost any patient. It is useful for people managing illnesses including, but not limited to, Crohn’s disease, hypertension, headaches, chronic pain, depression and other mental health disorders.
“Plus, it’s beneficial for healthy patients looking to improve their overall health and wellness,” she added.
An integrative lifestyle medicine treatment plan includes both traditional medical recommendations as well as therapies such as:
- Dietary coaching and instruction
- Herbal medicines and supplements
- Mood and emotional health counseling
- Stress reduction techniques
This isn’t an entirely new approach to medicine, Wagner said. “These therapies have been around for decades. They provide patients more time with their physician and offer a broader approach to healing. Plus, integrative lifestyle medicine has high-quality evidence supporting it.”
