Thu, Jul 6, 2017
GREEN BAY – Downtown traffic will look noticeably different next week for Aurora BayCare Open Streets Green Bay on Saturday, July 15.
That day, several roads will be closed to automobile traffic and opened exclusively to cyclists, walkers, skaters and other non-motorized modes of transportation.
Open Streets encourages the public to explore the city using healthy and active transportation. It’s a family-friendly event offering food, music and activities as well as access to the Fox River State Trail and the Saturday Farmers’ Market.
BayCare Clinic’s free helmet giveaway is one of the day’s featured attractions. The clinic will hand out 600 helmets of various sizes. They’ll be available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
The free helmet giveaway is part of the BayCare Clinic Bikes initiative. Through this initiative, BayCare Clinic hopes to help increase area bicycling while simultaneously advocating for cycling safety in northeastern Wisconsin.
BayCare Clinic has distributed more than 4,000 bike helmets since 2015, including donations to Green Bay area schools and local bike safety organizations and initiatives.
