Dr. Ryan Murphy, an emergency medicine physician with BayCare Clinic, spoke with NBC 26 News about the season’s rise in respiratory illnesses, specifically, the so-called “tripledemic” – a severe flu season coinciding with RSV and COVID-19 infections.
“Our daily census is up nearly 30 percent from normal,” Murphy said. “… It’s picked up more so in the last three to four weeks but even especially in the past week alone, there are a lot more positive flu swabs that we are seeing in the emergency department and urgent cares.”
Murphy encouraged vaccination against the flu.
