Dr. Christopher Painter chats with WBAY Channel 2 News

Dr. Christopher Painter, an emergency medicine physician with BayCare Clinic, was interviewed by WBAY Channel 2 News for a health news feature about getting early flu shots amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

It will be possible for someone to get COVID-19 and the flu at the same time, the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says. For that reason, Painter, along with the CDC, suggests that everyone who can get the flu shot, especially those who are high risk for COVID-10, should get it this year.

“The two illnesses together, we don’t know what that would cause, but it could be pretty bad,” Painter says.
