Dr. Ashwani Bhatia speaks with WBAY Channel 2

Dr. Ashwani Bhatia, chief medical officer with BayCare Clinic, was interviewed Wednesday by WBAY Channel 2 News regarding two health care workers in the United Kingdom who had allergic reactions to the new COVID-19 vaccine.

The reactions prompted UK health authorities to warn against vaccinating people with a significant history of allergic reactions.

Bhatia says it’s not uncommon for people who have such severe anaphylactic reactions that they have to carry EpiPens to have a reaction to a new vaccine. That should not be a major concern for the overwhelming majority of the population, he says.

“I think we need to trust the process, and I think we need to trust our health care agencies and the regulators,” Bhatia says.
