The 2020 BayCare Clinic Bayshore to Lakeshore bike tour has been canceled due to concerns associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, event organizers say.

The event was to have taken place on Saturday, June 6. The cancellation comes amid continued calls for social distancing measures.

“As a health care organization, we know the importance of following the preventive guidelines established during the COVID-19 pandemic,” says Ann Seidl, event director and director of marketing and public relations for BayCare Clinic. “It’s disappointing for us to cancel the ride, but everyone must do their part during this unprecedented world public health emergency.”

The BayCare Clinic Century drew more than 800 registrants in 2019.

All 2020 event registrants will receive full refunds, including those who ordered a commemorative jersey with their registration. Registrants should expect to receive refunds in seven to 10 business days.

The annual event offers a biking experience for cyclists of all ability and age levels. It’s designed for families and individuals looking to enjoy a healthy, low-impact, outdoors experience.

Riders typically bike 100-, 60-, 30- or 15-mile courses through scenic Brown, Kewaunee and Door counties.

While the ride won’t be held this year, event organizers say they plan to suggest creative ways to celebrate the day.

“Keep an eye on our email newsletter and our Facebook and Instagram accounts for fun ways to celebrate the 2020 BayCare Clinic Century,” Seidl says. “Also, our course maps and training guides will remain on our website for your use throughout the year.”

The event is part of the BayCare Clinic Bikes wellness initiative. BayCare Clinic Bikes promotes cycling as a healthy, family-friendly activity. Efforts are aimed toward increasing bicycling and advocating for cycling safety throughout northeastern Wisconsin.

Proceeds from the ride benefit the BayCare Clinic Foundation, which supports causes and organizations that help provide improved health and livelihood to the people of northeastern Wisconsin.
