Wed, Jan 4, 2017
Here are some updates to whet your appetite for the 2017 BayCare Clinic Century Bayshore to Lakeshore:
Resolve to do the ride
Organizers at the BayCare Clinic Century Bayshore to Lakeshore encourage those seeking a unique New Year’s fitness resolution to register for the century event. Registration is open at baycarecentury.com.
“Signing up for our family-friendly ride is perfect for those seeking a New Year’s resolution with a health-and-fitness angle to it,” said Ann Seidl, century ride director and director of marketing and public relations for BayCare Clinic. “Having the ride on your calendar gives you something to train for. It can be a great motivator for you and your family and friends.”
Aurora BayCare Medical Center will support the BayCare Clinic Century Bayshore to Lakeshore as a Peloton Level sponsor ($5,000 donation). What’s a peloton? Good question. A peloton is the main group or pack of riders in a road bicycle race. Now you know.
“Sponsors are vital to the success of this event,” Seidl said. “We’re grateful for the support of our healthcare partner, Aurora BayCare, and its support of an event we expect will help promote health and wellness for many in northeast Wisconsin, Michigan’s Upper Peninsula and beyond.”
Safety experts named
A duo of medical directors was selected to ensure rider safety on ride day. Dr. Steven Stroman, an emergency medicine physician with BayCare Clinic, was named the medical director for rider safety for the day-long event, while Dr. Jon Henry, an orthopedic surgeon with BayCare Clinic, was named the sports medicine medical director for the event.
Six months away and counting
The BayCare Clinic Century Bayshore to Lakeshore, is 7a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, June 3. It’s sponsored by the BayCare Clinic Foundation. It offers cyclists a 20-, 60-, or 100-mile course.
The ride non-competitive ride will start and end at BayCare Clinic’s new corporate headquarters at 1035 Kepler Drive in the I-43 Business Park on Green Bay’s far east side. It’s part of the health organization’s BayCare Clinic Bikes community wellness initiative.
