BayCare Clinic Bikes youth helmet giveaway is July 9
Tue, Jul 5, 2016
GREEN BAY – BayCare Clinic will give away free youth bike helmets and bike lights to the general public on the Fox River State Trail on Saturday morning, July 9.
The giveaway will take place on the trail behind Orthopedics & Sports Medicine BayCare Clinic’s location at 2020 Riverside Drive in Allouez (the former Eve’s Supper Club building).
Both items will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last, starting at 9 a.m.
“When kids wear a helmet while bike riding, they significantly lower their risk of serious head injury,” said Dr. Steven Schmidt, a plastic surgeon with BayCare Clinic and an avid cyclist.
“An avoidable head injury could negatively affect a child’s life forever. We want to remind the public that riding without a helmet, even for a seemingly harmless bike ride, is a huge risk that could have lasting consequences.”
The helmet and bike light giveaway is part of the BayCare Clinic Bikes community wellness initiative.
