BayCare Clinic a sponsor of Brown County’s lighted ski trails

SUAMICO – Physicians and philanthropists at BayCare Clinic know a bright idea when they see one. That’s why they donated funds to light some of the ski trails at the Brown County Reforestation Camp.
The county and the area’s Bay Nordic Ski Club will host a grand lighting ceremony from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. today at the camp in Suamico. The event will officially recognize supporters and formally flip on the light switch to 2.5 miles of trail at the camp, 4418 Reforestation Road.
The newly installed LED lights are on a timer system, turning on each day at sunset.
The project, completed in December, was a collaboration of area organizations to create skiing and fitness opportunities. It cost $300,000, money that came from a Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources grant and in-kind donations from individuals and entities such as BayCare Clinic’s Dr. Mark Duffy and The BayCare Clinic Foundation.
“This has been a worthwhile project, one that will offer health and fitness benefits to the entire region,” Duffy said. “I’m proud of the support our physicians and the BayCare Clinic Foundation provided this project.”
The BayCare Clinic Foundation is a bronze level contributor to the project.
The Reforestation Camp ski trails are the only lighted ski trails within an hour’s drive of Green Bay.
