GREEN BAY – Dr. Peter Johnson, a gynecologic oncologist with Aurora BayCare Medical Center, received a three-year appointment as a liaison for the hospital’s cancer program.

Liaison physicians are a key part of cancer programs accredited by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. As a liaison, Johnson is tasked with evaluating, interpreting and reporting Aurora BayCare’s performance data through the National Cancer Data Base and facilitating quality improvement initiatives based on data findings.

Johnson also must provide leadership on Commission on Cancer initiatives within Aurora BayCare’s cancer program while also collaborating with cancer-related agencies such as the American Cancer Society.

Johnson, a member of Aurora BayCare’s cancer committee, joins the national network of more than 1,500 volunteer physician liaisons providing leadership and direction to establish, maintain and support their facilities’ cancer programs.
