Is Kybella permanent?

Kybella contains a naturally occurring molecule called deoxycholic acid. Its job in the body is to aid in digestion by breaking down fat. When injected into the fat beneath your chin, Kybella destroys the fat cells. Once destroyed, the cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired goal.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments varies. The maximum number of treatments is six, but many patients need only two to four treatment sessions. Treatments are given at least one month apart and take about 15 to 20 minutes.

What is recovery like?

Mild redness, swelling and warmth may be seen after treatment. This will diminish over the first 24 to 48 hours. Minor bruising may also occur and could take about a week to fade. There is no downtime required, so patients can return immediately to work or school and resume their normal exercise routine.
