Thread Release Procedures
Thread release technique
Thread release is an innovative, minimally invasive procedure to help those experiencing hand or wrist pain from carpal tunnel or trigger finger syndrome.
Advantages of the thread release procedure include:
- It is ultra-minimally invasive, with no scalpel and no surgical incisions.
- It is performed in the office with a local anesthetic.
- Pain, rehabilitation and down time are minimal.
- Patients are generally able to return to their normal activities in one or two days. However, results may vary. Talk with your doctor about your likely recovery time.
The procedure uses ultrasound technology to map the area to be treated and to guide thin needles carrying a thin, smooth thread. The thread is looped on either side of the ligament to be treated, then is manipulated in a back-and-forth motion to sever the ligament and ease pain.
Once that is complete, the dissecting thread is removed. The procedure usually takes less than 10 minutes.
