Event Description

The frequency of overuse injuries in young athletes has steadily increased over the last few years.

While specialization and increased interest in competition can be factors in overuse injuries, improper training may also contribute.

As more and more athletes have been forced to train on their own, without supervision from licensed professionals, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there is greater risk that more injuries will occur.

Dr. Jon Henry, orthopedic surgeon at Orthopedics & Sports Medicine BayCare Clinic will participate in a Facebook Live question and answer session on staying safe during summer sports training, the potential for overuse injuries in young athletes and how the 2020 off-season looks very different thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic.

To watch live, visit the BayCare Clinic Facebook page around 5 p.m. on July 22, 2020.

Have questions about how to prevent possible overuse injuries or how to make sure athletes stay safe during off-season workouts? Ask us in the discussion section of the Facebook event page or ask them in the comments during our broadcast. We will do our best to answer your questions live on Facebook.
