Who’s getting facelifts? Men, younger women
Wednesday, July 19, 2017
A facelift is a cosmetic surgery procedure that aims to give a more youthful appearance to the face by reshaping the lower two-thirds. This includes all the tissues from the cheeks, down to and including the neck.
In this video, Dr. Steven C. Schmidt, a plastic surgeon with Plastic Surgery & Skin Specialists by BayCare Clinic, discusses the surgery and who’s a candidate.
Facelift surgery isn’t just for older women.
“If you look at facelift surgery and some of the techniques that we have available, the age range can extend all the way down to women in their 40s, and not just women but a lot of men are getting facelifts these days as well,” Schmidt says.
A facelift can:
- Remove and tighten sagging skin
- Reduce droopiness in the cheeks around the jaw line
- Lift the corners of the mouth
- Reduce the creases between the cheeks and the lips
“The goal of facelift surgery is not to look like someone else. What we tell our patients is, we still want them to look like themselves, just better, younger and refreshed,” Schmidt says.
