For more than 15 years, Wayne Coleman dealt with prostate issues. He had been taking medications for about 12 years, but still found himself getting up more than 12 times a night to urinate.

“That’s more than once an hour,” says Wayne, who is in his early 70s. “I was tired all the time, I wasn’t getting any sleep and every drug I was on had a side effect. It was getting to the point where something had to be done.”

Wayne went to his primary care doctor, who referred him to Dr. Richard Windsor of Aurora BayCare Urological Surgeons.

There, he saw a brochure about UroLift®.

“Before he could even suggest it to me, I was interested in giving it a try,” Wayne says.

UroLift is a minimally-invasive treatment that can help men with enlarged prostate. During the procedure, a urological surgeon lifts the enlarged prostate tissue and holds it back with implants.

The procedure prevents the tissue from blocking the urethra and allows urine to flow normally.

Wayne underwent the procedure in the spring of 2019.

It was performed in the operating room under general anesthesia. He returned home the same day.

“It was more than what I expected,” Wayne says. “I expected my problem to be a little bit better. I expected to be taking some drugs. I’m not taking any drugs of any kind at all now and I have my energy back.”

Wayne says he “feels like a teenager again.”

The medication side effects are gone, and Wayne is sleeping 10 or more hours a night – usually straight through.

Dr. Windsor has had high-level training with the UroLift System. He has been recognized by the UroLift Center of Excellence for his work.

Dr. Windsor sees patients in Green Bay and Marinette. To request an appointment do so online or call 920-288-8280 in Green Bay or 715-735-9494 in Marinette.
