Thank you for joining the 2016 Get Your Rear in Gear

Thanks to you, the greater Green Bay community, the 2016 Get Your Rear in Gear was a success.
The event created a platform for us to spread awareness and better educate the public about colon cancer, a disease that an estimated 1 in 20 of us are likely to face in our lifetime; a disease that very easily can be prevented if we are regularly screened and take measures to avoid or detect very early this deadly condition.
This year’s run/walk participants and volunteers, local media outlets, sponsors – including presenting sponsor Aurora BayCare Medical Center – and the Minneapolis-based Colon Cancer Coalition (a group promoting national awareness of colon cancer and encouraging increased use of screenings), all deserve applause for helping to spread the word about the dangers of colon cancer.

Our event drew nearly 200 registrants, up about 100 runners and walkers from last year. The increase shows our message is resonating among members of the public. People are looking for a way to help raise awareness of colon cancer. Our event provides that. It provides participants a fun, energetic and positive way to honor family members and friends who either have successfully fought off the disease or succumbed to it after a valiant battle.
Thank you for your support. We urge you to keep spreading the word about colon cancer awareness. Encourage family members and friends to get regular, age-appropriate screenings and keep stressing the importance of early detection.
Let’s continue to do what we can to help eliminate this disease.
