When a doctor meets a patient for the first time, there may be a mystery to be solved.

Dr. Jason George DeVries, a board-certified podiatrist with Orthopedics & Sports Medicine BayCare Clinic, sometimes sees patients who complain of foot pain but may have any number of contributing conditions.

For example, how do you get to the source of foot pain when the patient has arthritis, gout, neuropathy, diabetes and is overweight?

“It starts with an X-ray. Then we look at your clinical history,” DeVries said.

After that, a couple of basic questions: When did it start bothering you? What does it look like?

If the mystery lingers, DeVries has more diagnostic options, including an MRI if necessary.

“We pare down the possibilities, then bring in other specialists as needed,” said DeVries, who is fellowship trained in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery.

“What we’re always trying to do is give people their life back. We want to keep people active.”

Dr. Jason George DeVries sees patients in Manitowoc, Chilton and at the Foot & Ankle Center at 2020 Riverside Drive in Green Bay. To request an appointment, call 920-682-6376 in Manitowoc or request one online.
