“Here is my problem,” Roger Janofski said, tossing a soaking-wet pair of pants on the table in his doctor’s office.

That was almost 20 years ago. Roger had dealt with severe incontinence for nearly two decades.

“It kept getting progressively worse,” Roger says. “It got to the point where I could hardly go anywhere. If I had to drive more than 20 miles, I would need to stop to go to the restroom. If I had to walk by a place where there was running water, I’d have to run to the bathroom immediately.”

Roger, who’s in his early 70s, tried medications, diet changes, drinking less liquid and even resorted to wearing protective clothing all the time.

Nothing worked.

After seeing a specialist in Madison, Roger discovered Dr. Richard Windsor, an Aurora BayCare urological surgeon. He requested an appointment, intending to talk to Dr. Windsor about an alternative procedure.

“Dr. Windsor told me he could do the alternative procedure, but if the issues I was having were related to the prostate, there was a different procedure he strongly recommended.”

After examining Roger, Dr. Windsor recommended the UroLift® procedure.

UroLift is a minimally-invasive treatment that can help men with enlarged prostate. During the procedure, a urological surgeon lifts the enlarged prostate tissue and holds it back with implants.

The procedure prevents the tissue from blocking the urethra and allows urine to flow normally.

“He guaranteed six weeks after the procedure that I would notice a remarkable difference … and he was 100 percent correct,” Roger says.

Roger received the UroLift procedure on May 31, 2019.

He was in and out in 90 minutes, he says.

“Within 10 days, I felt like a different person,” Roger says. “I can go places now, I can do things.”

Roger lives in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, about 100 miles north of Green Bay. Before UroLift, he’d stop every 20 miles or so to use the bathroom. Now, he says he can get a large coffee, drink it on the way and not have to go until he gets to Green Bay.

“That’s how much my life has changed. I feel like I turned the clock back 40 years.”

Dr. Windsor has had high-level training with the UroLift System. He has been recognized by the UroLift Center of Excellence for his work.

“I was really impressed with Dr. Windsor and his staff,” Roger says.

“I’m just delighted that I found him … I have nothing but praise for the procedure that was done.”
