Get Your Rear in Gear: The schedule

Thursday, August 4, 2016

By: Femi Cole

There’ll be lots to do during the second annual Get Your Rear in Gear-Green Bay presented by Aurora BayCare Medical Center taking place Saturday, Aug. 6 on the hospital campus.

The event, an opportunity to boost colon cancer awareness across northeast Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, will also help drive home the importance of preventive screenings for early detection.

The run/walk will take participants around the Aurora BayCare Medical Center campus at 2845 Greenbrier Road, and through the nearby neighborhoods. It will feature a 5K timed race and a 1.5-mile walk. There also will be a kids' fun run.

The day’s events will include opportunities to celebrate colon cancer survivors and provide support for those family members and caregivers left behind following a loved one’s fight with the disease. There’ll be refreshments, tech shirts and marathon quality medals for age group winners.

Aurora BayCare Medical Center is the event’s presenting sponsor.

Registration is $30 for adults and $20 for ages 12 and under. The kids’ fun run is $15.

More than 200 registrants are expected.
