Working as a cardiologist can be challenging, so there’s nothing better than unwinding in the kitchen and preparing something tasty.

 

This fresh, healthy recipe is one of my go-to game-day snacks.

 

It’s also something you could prepare as an appetizer when entertaining guests.

Tomato and mozzarella rounds

 

Tomato and Mozzarella Rounds

Ingredients

4 firm tomatoes

1 small package sliced fresh mozzarella cheese

1 package fresh basil

1 package fresh chives

1 red onion

2 cloves garlic

Fresh ground pepper

 

Directions

Mince red onion, chives and garlic. Toss with pepper to taste, then set aside. Slice tomatoes and arrange on platter. Layer each tomato with a basil leaf and a slice of mozzarella. Spoon onion mixture onto each stack. Top with fresh ground pepper.
