“Macular degeneration is the most common eye disease we see,” says Dr. Wei-Chuan Wang, an ophthalmologist at BayCare Clinic Eye Specialists.

In this video, Wang explains signs and symptoms of macular degeneration, the different types and treatment options.

“Early detection is key,” Wang says.  “Because at early stage most people will not notice that they have any symptoms from macular degeneration.”

He recommends having an annual dilated eye exam, especially after the age of 60, to make sure you don’t have any early stages of macular degeneration.
