Cleft palate treatments
Wednesday, April 23, 2014
A cleft palate is a congenital malformation – meaning it happens early in the pregnancy. It’s not only cosmetic; it is also a functional issue. Clefting can include the lip and palate, or solely just the lip or simply the palate.
Treatment includes many different disciplines of medicine. The team can consist of plastic surgeons, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, orthodontists, pediatric dentists, speech pathologists, geneticists, and even a social worker.
Dr. Zent received his dental degree from Marquette University. He completed his residency and received his medical degree at the University of Kentucky. He is board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
When not treating patients, Dr. Zent enjoys swimming, golfing, and practicing martial arts.
