BayCare Clinic Century: Refuel at rest stops!

Tuesday, May 1, 2018

No matter how far you ride in the BayCare Clinic Century Bayshore to Lakeshore bike tour on Saturday, June 2, you won’t go far without an opportunity to rest and refuel.

We’ve built this year’s rest stop menu with feedback from last year’s riders. One surprising request? Pickles! So, yes, we’ll have pickles at five rest stops! Why pickles? They help with hydration and ward off muscle cramps.

There are eight rest stops for 100-mile riders, five for 60-mile riders, two for 30-mile riders and one for 15-mile riders. Each rest stop menu is different.

For century riders, those going 100 miles, the highlights include GU energy gel at most of the stops, sub sandwiches at two stops and kolaches at the Bruemmer Park rest stop near Kewaunee.

The 60-mile riders share four of the same stops, but they’ll have one of their own. The rest stop at The Rendezvous in Neuern, southwest of Luxemburg, will feature booyah and crackers.

The 15-mile riders will take their only break at Wequiock Falls Park – the first rest stop for all other riders – enjoying bagels, cream cheese, Nutella spread, peanut butter packs and fresh fruit.

The 30-mile riders share the first rest stop with all riders and the last rest stop – Good Shepherd Farm southeast of Green Bay – with those going longer distances. We’ll have watermelon, fruit snacks, cheese and crackers at the farm.

All of that comes with your registration for the BayCare Clinic Century Bayshore to Lakeshore. Also new this year: Four courses to choose from, with distances of 15, 30, 60 or 100 miles.
