Chris Augustian, CPA
Chief Executive Officer
Chris Augustian has been BayCare Clinic’s Chief Executive Officer since 2012. Chris joined BayCare Clinic in 2004 as the company's controller. In 2006, he become Chief Financial Officer. While Chris served as CFO, BayCare Clinic achieved consistent financial performance. He successfully reorganized the finance department to gain efficiency and reduce financial overhead, striving to lower health care costs throughout the community. In addition to serving as BayCare Clinic CEO, Chris is the Chairman of the Board at Aurora BayCare Medical Center. He also serves on the boards of the New Community Shelter and the Holdings Corporation of the Wisconsin Medical Society. Chris received his bachelor's degree in managerial accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and is a certified public accountant.
Ashwani Bhatia, MD, FACP
Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Ashwani Bhatia is chief medical officer for BayCare Clinic. He is responsible for all medical aspects of the organization, including implementation and oversight of medical policies established by BayCare Clinic’s Board of Managers and Quality Committee. Before joining BayCare Clinic in 2019, Dr. Bhatia held numerous leadership positions with Aurora BayCare Medical Center in Green Bay, including chairman for the Department of Medicine, director of medical education for the Wisconsin Academy for Rural Medicine, physician champion for Clinical Informatics and co-chair of the EPIC Steering Committee. In his prior role as a director of the Hospitalist Program at ABMC, Dr. Bhatia led a large group of providers ensuring efficient delivery of care to patients. As a Director of Quality for the greater Green Bay market, he drove the quality initiative in all areas of care. Dr. Bhatia earned his medical degree from Maulana Azad Medical College in New Delhi, India. He completed internal medicine training at North Middlesex University Trust in London, England, followed by his internal medicine residency at the Permian Basin campus of Texas Tech University in Odessa, Texas.
Director of Marketing/PR
Ann Seidl is Director of Marketing and Public Relations for BayCare Clinic. She builds regional awareness of BayCare Clinic's respected and highly-trained physicians and medical providers, and its innovative specialty care offerings. She provides strategic planning and brand management for advertising, promotions, communications and public and government relations. Ann is a member of the BayCare Clinic Foundation board, directing its activities as its administrator. She also is event director of the BayCare Clinic Century Bayshore to Lakeshore bicycle tour, which benefits the BayCare Clinic Foundation. Ann joined BayCare Clinic in 2005 after selling SueAnn's Bagels, a bagel-and-coffee business with seven locations, which she co-founded in 1989. She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.
Gregory W. Welsh, DDS
Director of Physician Operations
Dr. Greg Welsh is BayCare Clinic’s Director of Physician Operations. In this leadership role he is responsible for directing provider recruitment, practice outreach and strategic physician management. Previously Dr. Welsh has served as Chair of the BayCare Clinic Finance Committee and Chair of its Operations Committee, as well as Managing Partner for his clinical department. Dr. Welsh received his degree from The Ohio State University and completed an internship and residency at St. John's Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis. He is board certified by the American Board of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, a diplomate of the National Dental Board of Anesthesiology, and a fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Lesley Bitters, RN, CNRN, BS
Director of Clinical Operations
Lesley Bitters is responsible for the clinical efficacy of all BayCare Clinic services. She continually evaluates clinic operations to promote high quality patient care and service. She also is responsible for payor contract maintenance and the development of new service lines. She joined BayCare Clinic in 1999. She is a graduate of Bellin College of Nursing and holds a business administration degree from Cardinal Stritch University. Her career has included service to neonatal and adult intensive care units as well as operating room experience in cardiac, vascular and neurosurgery.
Director of Human Resources
Tony Violetta joined BayCare Clinic in 2007, having previously worked in human resources for a large utility contractor. His responsibilities to BayCare Clinic are to provide strategic and operational support for all aspects of human resources, including recruitment, employee relations, staff development and compliance.
Julie Duckett, CPA, CFE
Julie Duckett joined BayCare Clinic in 1999. As controller, she oversees patient accounts, health information and the Finance Department. Julie approaches her position with close attention to automation and efficiency for all financial processes. Her goal is to provide detailed and useful information to physicians and partners to enable decisions that promote the ongoing success of BayCare Clinic. Julie is a graduate of St. Norbert College and is certified as a public accountant and a fraud examiner.
Karen Miller, RN, MSN, CHPN
Director of Care Management and Quality
Karen Miller is BayCare Clinic’s Director of Care Management and Quality. In this role, she identifies opportunities to improve patient care while maximizing efficiency. Karen also coordinates activities to improve BayCare Clinic’s patient experience. Her goal is to serve patients by improving their BayCare Clinic experience while reducing the risks associated with healthcare. Karen has been a registered nurse since 1982 and is a clinical nurse specialist, holding a master’s degree in adult nursing. She has been with BayCare Clinic since 2006.
Stephen Bornick is BayCare Clinic’s General Counsel. He provides direction and serves as the resident expert for all legal initiatives. Stephen ensures legal compliance, leads the negotiation of contracts and protects the legal interests of BayCare Clinic, ensuring its steady growth and positive impact in northeastern Wisconsin. Stephen graduated cum laude from Duke University School of Law in Durham, North Carolina, and is admitted to practice law in New York and Wisconsin.
Executive Project Coordinator
Donna Lautenbach is BayCare Clinic’s Executive Project Coordinator. She is responsible for assisting BayCare Clinic’s Executive Team with major initiatives and projects as well as conducting research in support of such initiatives. A former executive assistant, she joined BayCare Clinic in 2004. Donna’s knowledge of the clinic system and its partner relationships as well as her excellent organizational and problem-solving skills and attention to detail make her a natural fit as the organization’s executive project coordinator.
Director of Strategic Growth and Business Development
Mike Schmidt is BayCare Clinic’s Director of Strategic Growth and Business Development. In this role, he analyzes current and new business opportunities, including reviewing service gaps, potential affiliations with independent groups, evaluating facilities in outreach markets, and more. Mike’s extensive experience in business development and business administration position him to expertly chart BayCare Clinic’s future. He received his bachelor’s degree in human development and psychology from the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
