B.R.A.s of the Bay
Breast reconstruction is a right
Did you know? Federal law mandates coverage of breast reconstruction for most breast cancer patients, even if the reconstruction is delayed until after cancer treatment is completed.
Undergoing breast reconstruction can have profound physical and emotional benefits for women. It can help enhance their confidence and self-image after a mastectomy.
National B.R.A. Day – Breast Reconstruction Awareness Day – is Wednesday, October 16, 2019. It’s aimed at raising awareness and closing the loop on breast cancer.
Closing the Loop on Breast Cancer
New this year! To celebrate breast reconstruction awareness day, businesses and individuals from the Green Bay area are invited to participate in our annual B.R.A.s of the Bay event by decorating bras. Historically, only businesses in the community were invited to participate, but in 2019 we’re opening participation in our annual bra decorating contest to individuals as well.
Those participating can register to decorate a bra online. Businesses can display bras in their locations during September and October. All registered bras will be voted on by the public online from October 1 to October 16 (ending at midnight). The winner of the bra decorating contest will be revealed at the B.R.A.s of the Bay event on Thursday, October, 17.
Join us for B.R.A.s of the Bay, an annual social event that raises awareness about breast reconstruction.
When: Thursday, October 17, at 6 p.m.
Where: Badger State Brewing Company, 990 Tony Canadeo Run, in the Barrel Haus.
What: We will recognize breast cancer survivors and reveal the winners of our bra decorating contest. This evening will include complimentary hors d’oeuvres from a local eatery, a raffle that includes the decorated bras and other items from local vendors, and a cash bar.
Proceeds from B.R.A.s of the Bay sponsorships, ticket sales, the raffle and donations benefit the Ribbon of Hope Foundation, which serves people with breast cancer in northeastern Wisconsin. Additional support comes from the Plastic Surgery Foundation, BayCare Clinic Foundation and Plastic Surgery & Skin Specialists by BayCare Clinic.

For women who have lost a breast to breast cancer or trauma, breast reconstruction can be a physically and emotionally rewarding procedure.
