Medical Cardiology

Medical cardiology deals with the management of cardiac disease, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, and the other associated elements of heart disease.

BayCare Clinic offers the latest innovations in cardiac care, including state-of-the-art tests and procedures to assist in accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and cardiac disease monitoring.

We also offer heart disease prevention programs.

Heart Disease Prevention

If you have a family history of heart disease, smoke, are overweight, or regularly experience high levels of stress, you are at higher risk of developing heart disease.  To lower that risk, your doctor may recommend a heart disease prevention program.

Our cardiology team - including cardiologists, registered nurses, and physician assistants - will help you develop a prevention program.  Recommendations may include the following:

  • Goals for a healthy lifestyle
  • Medication
  • Cholesterol management
  • High blood pressure management

We will also help you manage other health conditions, such as diabetes or depression, which can impact heart health. Our team will provide education and support to help you make the necessary lifestyle modifications to lower your risk for heart disease.

Managing Heart Disease

If you have already been diagnosed with heart disease, we can help you learn to live better with your condition so you can lead a healthier, more active life.

Managing your heart disease requires many of the same activities recommended for people trying to limit their risk of contracting the disease.  Essentially, we want to prevent your heart disease from progressing further and even reverse your condition, when possible.  Your cardiologist may recommend:

  • Cardiac monitoring
  • 24-hour blood pressure monitoring
  • Stress tests
  • Education to recognize the symptoms of heart failure
  • Additional diagnostic tests, therapeutic procedures, or surgery

Our specialists manage a full range of heart disease and cardiovascular disorders. Ongoing improvements in testing, cardiac medications, and cardiac rehabilitation means more and more patients can stabilize and improve their heart health with attentive, noninvasive care.
